Our Ministry

The Station of the Cross Catholic Media Network is an apostolate dedicated to proclaiming the fullness of Truth with clarity and charity. We are blessed to receive and faithfully echo the revelation of Jesus Christ that has been authentically handed on over the past 2,000 years by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Magisterium of the Catholic Church that Jesus instituted.

History

In the mid-1990s, Jim and Joanne Wright visited the monastery at the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). Mother Angelica, foundress of EWTN, asked them to go back home to Buffalo and start a Catholic radio apostolate. Jim and Joanne did not have any radio or media experience. After prayerful discernment, The Station of the Cross began with the goal of bringing Catholic radio to Western New York. After overcoming a number of challenges, The Station of the Cross began broadcasting in Buffalo, New York, in 1999. The listening areas have multiplied over the years!

Our Vision

The Station of the Cross is a non-for-profit Catholic media network that exists in order to effectively evangelize through radio programming and community action.

We strive to proclaim the Truth revealed in Jesus Christ, handed on by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the Magisterium of the Catholic Church for the past 2,000 years, and now laid out for us in the Catechism.

The Station of the Cross Catholic Media Network broadcasts quality Catholic programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Station of the Cross has borne abundant fruit over the years, and we believe that God is not finished with this radio apostolate. We hope to bring Catholic radio to even more markets.

Why Catholic Radio?

Catholic Radio is intimate. It’s people talking to people.

Isn’t that how you encourage others in your life? Radio can be much more effective than other forms of media. Hearing the Truth in an intimate setting influences hearts and minds. The message of Truth reaches listeners in a way like no other. With radio you are able to talk to a particular listener; male or female, young or old, high school graduate or retired person. Radio allows you to more efficiently reach people from all walks of life.

We’ve all heard people who say their best advertising is “word of mouth.” When was the last time you told ten friends about a good experience you had? We’re all more likely to share bad experiences. After all, it’s human nature to commiserate. But what if you could tell thousands of potential listeners about the good experience surrounding Catholic radio? God is in control and managing the message.

In-car listening facts.

Arbitron is the ratings firm that surveys and analyzes radio usage. A national Arbitron-sponsored In-Car Study found that more than 80% of 35-64 year-olds say they spend most of their time with radio. An estimated 83% of Americans commute to work by car. It remains the #1 location for audio listening.
