The Catholic Medical Association of Buffalo will present an Advent Service of Lessons & Carols on Saturday, December 17th at 7:00 pm at Infant of Prague Church, 921 Cleveland Drive in Cheektowaga. Music will be provided by the St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum, directed by Steve Quebral. Lessons and Carols is a service of scripture readings and sung responses that tell the story of salvation from the fall of man in the Garden of Eden to the coming of the Messiah in Bethlehem.
The St. John Paul II Schola Cantorum is an “a cappella” choir dedicated to preserving, promoting and performing sacred choral works from the great treasury of music of the Catholic Church. Their repertoire ranges from Gregorian Chant to masterpieces of sacred polyphony from the Middle Ages to modern times. Works by Bach, Victoria, Gabrieli, Hassler, Rheinberger and others will be performed. A free will offering will be accepted to support the charitable endeavors of the Catholic Medical Association of Buffalo. Light refreshments will be served in Henesey Hall following the service. For more information, contact the choir by email at [email protected] or follow them on Facebook and Instagram @JP2Schola.
