“And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (Rev 12:1).
Our Blessed Mother has warned us about the Day of Judgement through her repeated calls for conversion. The woman clothed with the sun is the Woman of Revelation- a symbol or type of the Church and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Here are 3 warnings from apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary which she has given us through the centuries about the Second Coming of Christ and how we can prepare ourselves for eternal life.
1. Our Lady of Fatima
“Sacrifice yourself for sinners, and say many times, especially whenever you make some sacrifice: O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
On May 13, 1917 in Portugal, Our Lady appeared for the first time to three shepherd children – Lucia, 10 years old, and her two cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, 9 and 7 years old, respectively. In her final apparition, Mary would reveal the “Great Secret” of Fatima, a secret that Lucia would divide into three parts and reveal to the public over time.
Mary requested daily rosaries, asked for a chapel to be built at the site of the apparitions, she promised that the war (WWI) would soon be over and that she would heal those that the children had prayed for. However, she said this could not be done if people did not “amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins.”
2. Our Lady of Lourdes
“Penance, penance, penance. Pray for sinners.”
Over the course of several weeks in the year 1858, Our Lady of Lourdes would give St. Bernadette Soubirous many messages, some that were between only the two of them, and others which she shared with all those present.
Among those messages were calls for conversion. The conversion of sinners is something that should always be at the forefront of our minds, first starting with our own conversion. She drew particular attention to the necessity of practicing penance in reparation for sins committed by people throughout the world.
3. Our Lady of Good Help
“I am the Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners, and I wish you to do the same…Make a general confession and offer Communion for the conversion of sinners. If they do not convert and do penance, my Son will be obliged to punish them.”
During the October of 1859, Our Lady appeared three times to a 28 year old Belgian immigrant, Adele Brise in the only officially approved apparition site in the entire United States.
As we saw in the messages of the other apparitions above, Our Lady especially wanted to get the message across that the conversion of poor sinners was paramount. Like any good mother, our Blessed Mother is very concerned for the eternal destination of each of her children, desperately wanting to see each and every one of us in heaven with our Lord and God, Jesus Christ.

Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother are always with us, and thus we need not have any fear or anxiety in these troubled times. “I am with you always” (Mt 28:20). “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Heb 13:5).
